Hello everyone!

On October 27, I was invited to Maxime Peyron’s show on Ici Vaucluse to talk about tattooing, but especially to listen to the stories of the listeners. And that’s probably what I liked most about the show: it wasn’t just about technique or style, but about what people really put behind their tattoos.

There were stories about scars to cover up, first tattoos, pieces that you regret but then transform, and others simply made because the idea was beautiful. Ultimately, exactly the kind of discussions we all have every day in the studio, except that this time everything was happening live on the radio.

My father was also on the side

My father, Stéphane Chaudesaigues, He intervened on the phone. With his background, one could obviously go very far: the opening of Graphicaderme in 1986, his years in the United States, the first conventions, the National Tattoo Association, all the meetings that accompanied the evolution of tattooing in France.

I always love hearing about that era because the tattooing in the 80s had absolutely nothing to do with what we know today. Just the way you found a tattoo artist, the way you exchanged references or discovered conventions was completely different.

And of course, we also talked about my career

For my part, I’ve talked about my own path, which has never really been linear. Canada, my time at Chevrolet, and then the return to tattooing… and now design and web design, which are taking up more and more space.

I think what interested me most was to show that even when you grow up in a family of tattoo artists, you don’t necessarily follow a pre-determined path. It took me a while to understand how I wanted to take my place there.

I have told all this in much more detail in my article about my journey between tattooing, design and webdesign.

What I liked about this show

The diversity of stories, clearly. Sometimes we forget how two people can come for a tattoo for completely opposite reasons. For one, it’s very personal. For another, it’s simply aesthetic. And both are perfectly valid.

That’s exactly what I love about tattooing: you can talk about composition, color, and technique for hours, but in the end there’s always someone who will live with that image on their body.

Thanks again to Maxime Peyron, the team at Ici Vaucluse, and the listeners who shared their stories with us that day.
