Hôtel Amour Nice Review: My Honest Opinion After Two Stays

I mention Hôtel Amour Nice quite often, and there is a reason for that. I have stayed twice and, so far, it remains my favourite hotel.

I like Hôtel Amour Paris too, but Nice has something extra: the rooftop, the beach, far more space and that immediate feeling of arriving at a holiday house.

If you have read my review of the Hôtel Amour Paris restaurant, you already know I preferred Nice. It was time I explained exactly why.

What I love about Hôtel Amour Nice

The first thing I notice every time is the decor. There's pink, blue, books, paintings, plants, objects everywhere... and I love it.

It is not minimalist at all, which is precisely why I like it. There are objects everywhere, but nothing feels as though it was added simply to fill the room.

It reminds me of the homes I grew up in. We are a large family, so there were always plenty of people and plenty of things: CDs, records, framed pictures, second-hand furniture and books everywhere.

It was never perfectly tidy and there was usually a little mess, but it was our mess. You know what I mean? Everything had a story, which is exactly what I love in an interior.

At Hôtel Amour Nice, I get a bit of that same feeling. You want to look around, look at the paintings, the lamps, the objects placed on the furniture. Personally, I could spend ages looking at all the details.

The rooms at Hôtel Amour Nice

The bedrooms follow the same approach: colour, wood, paintings, blue curtains and pink walls. Nothing feels timid or overly coordinated.

That is one of my favourite things about the hotel. I would choose a room like this over an entirely beige, perfectly matched hotel room every time.

I also think this kind of interior ages better. It is less tied to one passing trend because several periods and styles already live together.

And inevitably, I always leave with ideas. A colour combination, a lamp, a frame placed somewhere... there is always a detail I want to remember.

The café, rooftop and cocktails

In the morning, I loved going downstairs for a matcha at the hotel café. It sounds like a tiny thing, but it is one of my favourite parts of staying somewhere for a few days.

I don't necessarily like leaving the hotel as soon as I wake up. Especially when I've deliberately chosen a place because I like it.

And at Hôtel Amour Nice, you can really make the most of it all day long. You can have a coffee in the morning, go out for a stroll around Nice, come back later, and then finish the day on the rooftop.

The rooftop is one of my favourite parts of the hotel, especially at the end of the day. The cocktails are very good too, so nobody needs to persuade me to stay.

And of course, the beach

Hôtel Amour also has a private beach a few minutes away.

If you have seen photographs of the hotel, you probably know the striped parasols and sun loungers. They are very photogenic, but when you stay here the real luxury is simply having the beach so close.

That is why Hôtel Amour Nice works so well for a few days. You can walk through Old Nice, spend part of the afternoon at the beach, then return to the hotel for a drink.

There isn’t necessarily any need to plan fifteen things in a day.

And I'm honestly fine with that.

Is the food good at Hôtel Amour Nice?

Yes, and I even preferred what I ate in Nice to what we had in Paris.

When Greg and I went for dinner in Hôtel Amour Paris, I thought the food was good, but rather expensive for what we ate, and the service left me slightly disappointed.

In Nice, I didn't get that impression and I found the whole thing much more pleasant.

As always, this is only my experience. Two visits to the same restaurant can feel completely different, even a fortnight apart.

If I had to choose where to eat again today, I would choose Nice.

Why I still prefer Hôtel Amour Nice to Paris

I think it is mostly because in Nice, I really had the time to experience the hotel.

I've been there twice, I've slept there, I've had my matcha downstairs, I've enjoyed the rooftop, the beach, the restaurant... naturally, I know it much better.

But I also find the place more pleasant overall.

In Paris, the restaurant has a separate entrance and I was even a bit disappointed not to go through the lobby because I love looking at the Hôtel Amour merch. In Nice, you actually go through the hotel before heading to the restaurant, so I can check out everything they have on the way. Yes, that detail matters to me.

Nice is also much larger, with several places to settle in, the beach nearby and a much stronger holiday feeling.

I will return to discover the Paris hotel properly because I have never stayed overnight there.

But if you told me tomorrow that I could book only one Hôtel Amour, I would choose Nice.

Would I stay at Hôtel Amour Nice again?

Absolutely!

I have already been there twice and I would gladly go back a third time.

If you love very minimalist hotels where nothing is out of place, this may not be for you. If you love colour, collected objects, characterful rooms and hotels you actually want to spend time in during the day, I think you may love it.
