Avignon Festival 2026: where to stay
La Mirande — 4 place de l'Amirande
This is the finest address in Avignon. The hotel is set in a 14th-century palace, a stone's throw from the Palais des Papes. The rooms are decorated as if time has stood still, with second-hand finds, fabrics and textures—everything I love. Nothing clinical, nothing standardised. It's the kind of place where you immediately understand why Avignon attracts people from all over the world.
In July, La Mirande is at the heart of everything. The Festival passes right by its door.
Le Bristol — 44 cours Jean Jaurès
More accessible, well located on Cours Jean Jaurès, two minutes' walk from the ramparts. It's a practical, central address that works well for those who want to be in Avignon without breaking the bank. Open 24/7, which is handy for nights when shows run late.
Where to eat and drink
Bar du Change — 24 place du Change
It's my spot in Avignon. Perfect for breakfast, a steak tartare with chips, a coffee, or an Aperol Spritz! A quiet little square in the historic centre where locals have always come for lunch. The service is straightforward, the prices are very reasonable, and the steak à cheval is an institution.
We settle in, we take our time, we come back. If you are in Avignon during the Festival and looking for a place that feels like the real life of the city, this is it.
Open non-stop during the festival from 7.30am to midnight.
The Beou — rue Violette
A slightly secluded, quiet spot, away from the hustle and bustle of the centre during the Festival.
Very good, the portions are generous, and the place is really nice.
Perfect for summer evenings when you're looking for something a bit more quiet.
Casa Bronzini — 13 place de l'Horloge
Café, bar, restaurant — open from 07:30 to 00:30 every day. Good for a morning coffee, good for an evening drink. The place is very central but without the tourist-trap feel of some of the square's neighbours.

Le Festival — 2 rue Saint-Agricol
Close to everything, open until midnight. A great spot for a bite between shows — handy and hassle-free.

Le Bibendum — 83 rue Joseph Vernet
Le Bibendum. Haussmannian mouldings, Parisian atmosphere, historic building on Rue Joseph Vernet. Cocktail bar, wine bar, lounge and brasserie, great for both lunch and dinner. The atmosphere is refined, the cocktails are good, and the decor is truly beautiful. Closed on Mondays and Sundays.
And meanwhile at Graphicaderme
If you are in Avignon for the Festival and you have a tattoo project in mind, I work by appointment at the Graphicaderme studio, 29 rue Thiers, a 5-minute walk from La Mirande.

Two addresses depending on your budget: La Mirande for Avignon's finest experience, at the foot of the Palais des Papes. Le Bristol for a central and accessible option on Cours Jean Jaurès, open 24 hours a day.
Le Bar du Change for a local lunch, the steak and eggs is a must.
