I have already spoken of My routine for a natural complexion without foundationToday, I'm showing you the products I use for my brows, eyes and lips.
My makeup bag has become quite depleted these past few months. I always like discovering new products, but I always end up coming back to the same old ones.
At the moment, I'm mainly using Merit, Victoria Beckham Beauty, and Hourglass. A small selection that allows me to do my makeup quickly, without turning my bathroom into a dressing room.
My eyebrows after permanent makeup
A few years ago, I had permanent makeup done on my eyebrows. It was fashionable, a friend of mine at the time had a salon, and I was tempted.
The problem is that once you start, you're B-U-C-K-E-D!
And then you often have to have touch-ups, which of course cost money. But are we going to talk about the pain? And this is coming from a tattoo artist!
Please note: I am speaking from my personal experience, which does not mean it's the case for everyone. And I perfectly understand the benefit of permanent makeup when eyebrows are very sparse, but in my case, it was unnecessary, it must be said.
Especially since I already had quite full eyebrows. I didn't need to redraw them permanently, but this obvious fact dawned on me a bit late. They say you learn from your mistakes!
Over time, I no longer liked the shape and colour, it was far too superficial. So I had laser tattoo removal to get my natural eyebrows back.
Today, I prefer to apply a light makeup according to my mood.
And most importantly, I'm not stuck with a brow shape I don't like.
Merit's Brow 1990 for reshaping eyebrows
I am using Merit's Brow 1990 in the shade Brown Black.
My very fine pencil allows me to fill in small, less regular areas. I draw a few strokes between the hairs, without completely altering the shape of my eyebrows.
I'm not looking for a perfectly sharp result. I like to keep a natural line, with just a little more definition.
The product remains subtle and doesn't give that overly drawn-on effect that I now want to avoid. After my experience with permanent makeup, the fact that it comes off in the evening is also an excellent advantage.
The Victoria Beckham Beauty eye definer
For my eyes, I use a Victoria Beckham Beauty pencil.
I place it right at the lash line, then blend it with my finger. This gives a softer result than a perfectly drawn line.
The colour makes an impact from the first application, and the texture remains easy to work with. This means I can intensify my look quickly, without using multiple eyeshadows or getting out all my brushes.
That's exactly what I expect from an eyeliner. It needs to be pigmented enough to be visible, but soft enough to forgive a clumsy application.
This does its job very well. Even with a small amount of product, the eyes look more defined.
Merit mascara for lash lengthening
I'm finishing my eyes with Merit mascara.
I'm not necessarily looking for a lot of volume, I prefer well-separated, longer lashes with no clumps.
This mascara opens up the eyes without giving too heavy an effect. It works particularly well with the slightly smudged Victoria Beckham pencil.
The two products are more than enough for my daily makeup. The eyes look more intense, but the result is still easy to wear even in the morning.
My Hourglass duo for lips
For my lips, I use two Hourglass products.
I'm starting with the Shape and Sculpt Lip Liner in the shade Silhouette. Its colour is between a reddish-brown and a burgundy.
I draw the outline, then I lightly blend the pencil inwards on the lips. This avoids too precise a line and makes the colour easier to wear.
I then apply the Phantom Blur Balm in shade Echo 50, Soft Neutral Pink.
The balm softens the pencil's colour and provides more comfort. The combination redefines the lips without giving the very strict result of a classic lipstick.
I can also reapply the balm easily during the day, no need to completely redo the outline after each coffee, which is preferable.
Products I really use
I've had a lot of makeup for a long time, with several almost identical versions of the same product.
Today, I prefer to keep a small selection that I actually use. Brow 1990 reshapes my eyebrows, Victoria Beckham's pencil enhances my eyes, and Merit's mascara defines my lashes. The Hourglass duo finishes the makeup with an easy-to-wear colour.
I still love new products and attractive packaging. I can always be convinced by a very pretty tube, even before I know if the contents suit me.
